Overlooking beautiful mountains and lakes, Ndali Lodge is an authentic and charming escape in western Uganda with easy access to the Kibale Forest.

The main appeal of Ndali Lodge is its close proximity to the Kibale Forest National Park, home to the largest concentration of chimpanzees in Africa. But its location on a hilltop overlooking the Buyuruguru Lakes in Uganda’s volcanic crater region is one-of-a-kind. Reached by a twisting road that twists away from the local village, it’s perfectly secluded with just eight solar-powered stone cottages to choose from.

About Ndali Lodge

High up on the hill overlooking the Buyuruguru Lakes and the rugged Rwenzori mountains, the owner-run Ndali Lodge is nestled within 1,000 acres of private farmland. The main lodge has a reception, lounge, dining area, bar and veranda all linked by walkways and its truly authentic – all polished floors, exposed beams and local artefacts. A swimming pool is the perfect spot to cool off from the heat of the day, but early morning dips in the lake itself are highly recommended.

There are just eight self-contained cottages available, built from stone and thatch and offering large and airy rooms, spacious en-suite bathrooms and a private veranda with a view of the mountain or lake. And the best bit? Everything is solar powered - the lodge is lit by candlelight and hurricane lamps to ensure you get the full benefit of retreating to the middle of the African bush. Make the most of this great base for trips into the Kibale Forest National Park for chimpanzee trekking adventures, visit a nearby tea plantation, explore Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary home to monkeys and mammals or hike to the stunning Mahoma Waterfall.

There is a lounge, dining room and bar available at the main lodge. Delicious four course meals are served by candlelit around a communal table in the evenings.

There are eight stone cottages available, sleeping up to 16 guests. Each room has a four poster king-sized bed or two queen beds, an en-suite bathroom with a shower and stand-alone bath. Each cottage is large enough to accommodate a family.
