Collect your car and begin your journey west. Very soon the ground starts to rise as you head into the world famous Rocky Mountains, following the thundering rivers that fall from this spectacular range. Descend into the town of Banff, a compact and friendly place with an alpine feel. Take a day to explore Banff National Park: Canada’s first national park. Famed for its hot springs and snow-capped peaks the region is a trekker’s delight. In the evening return to Banff town for a warming drink in the friendly town centre.

Day 5 (Banff to Lake Louise - 36 Mi)

A short drive from Banff are the azure waters of Lake Louise, surrounded by forested mountains and a magnificent glacier. Hire a kayak and head out onto this spectacular expanse or put your best foot forward and enjoy a walk through the pine trees and along the shoreline.

Day 6 & 7 (Lake Louise to Jasper - 145 Mi)

Lake Louise to Jasper

Depart Banff National Park onto the scenic Icefields Parkway where glaciers, rivers and wildlife compete for your attention. Jasper is a pretty town and a great base from which to explore Jasper National Park. Keep an eye out for the native fauna as moose and caribou, even wolves and grizzly bears, call this park home. In the evening enjoy a hearty meal in one of Jasper's cosy restaurants.
